J. L. Hawkins Family Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) venture, "growing community on the farm" as we offer “SHARES” of the natural farm harvest to folks in northeast Indiana. A share for 2008 included a weekly allotment of vegetables from late May to early October, 50 weeks of eggs, 20 pastured meat chickens, a fresh Thanksgiving turkey, a half grass-fed hog, and a quarter grass-finished beef.   We sold out of Full Harvest Shares for 2008.  Information for 2009 will be posted in December.

J. L. Hawkins Family Farm also offers NON-SHARE SALES of the following in season:

  • "fresh pastured turkey"  $2.95/lb  for Broad Breasted White Turkeys; $5.95/lb for Heritage Breeds.  Available November 2008.  Frozen Christmas turkeys will also be available for an additional $.10/lb   Order now!
  • "pastured chicken"  - Fresh and frozen chicken @ $2.70/lb.  Final pick butchering (for fresh chicken) for 2008 is September 12.
  • "steakburger" - the entire calf is ground into burger so that the meat is rich and very lean.  Frozen in bulk one-pound packages ($4.75/lb), and in one-pound packages of patties ($4.95/lb)  On-farm pick up.
  • "steaks" - We currently have grass-finshed steaks in our on-farm freezers for sale:  T-bone @ $13.50/lb; Ribeye @ $12.50/lb; Sirloin @ $7.50/lb.
  • " freezer beef"  approx $3.50/lb hanging weight for halves and quarters.   Order now for November 2008 butcherings.
  • "freezer pork" approximately $2.95/lb hanging weight, to be butchered Oct 2008.
  • "pastured eggs" - occasionally we have a surplus of eggs to offer for sale.
