L. Hawkins Family Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) venture, "growing community on the farm" as we offer “SHARES” of the natural farm harvest to folks in northeast Indiana. A share
for 2009 includes a weekly allotment of vegetables from late May to early October,
40 weeks of eggs, 20 pastured meat chickens, a fresh Thanksgiving turkey, a half grass-fed hog, and a quarter grass-finished beef. We are sold out of full harvest shares for 2009. (which means we have sold all of the vegetable shares that we offer).
But we still have meat and other products available. J. L. Hawkins Family Farm also offers:
- "pastured chicken" - Fresh whole chicken is available during the third weeks of June, July, and September 2009 for $2.95/lb. We also have frozen whole chickens available most of the time for the same price.
- " freezer beef" approx $3.75/lb hanging weight for halves and quarters. (A quarter is approximately 100 lbs hanging weight.) Freezer beef is generally ready in June and October.
- "freezer pork" approximately $3.35/lb hanging weight. Pork is generally ready in October or November.
- "pastured eggs" - We usually have a surplus of eggs to offer for sale. Mixed-size (ungraded) eggs are $3.50/dozen.
- "lean ground beef " - Frozen in bulk one-pound packages ($4.75/lb), and in one-pound or two-pound packages of patties ($4.95/lb)
- "beef steaks and pork chops (and other cuts) " - We currently have grass-finshed steaks in our on-farm freezers for sale.
- "fresh pastured turkey" $3.25/lb for Broad Breasted White Turkeys; $5.95/lb for Heritage Breeds. Available in November. Order now to reserve your Thanksgiving turkey (we sell out each year.)
- Raw-milk grass-fed Jersey cheese is available for on farm pick up.
