Here's the picture in my mind: on a beautiful autumn evening, between one
and two hundred people are gathered out in the gardens of Hawkins
Family Farm. They are seated between heaven and earth at tables dressed in
white tablecloths. On their china plates they find food that was grown or raised not far
from where they sit, exquisite dishes prepared by local chef Jennifer Disler slow-
cooked beef brisket, blueberry pork, herb-rubbed chicken, rainbow carrots, sautéed
greens, crusty sourdough pain du levain bread, fresh peach cobbler and much more.
They sip a variety of local beers, a different one paired with each course, including dessert.
They linger for hours, until sunset, when table candles are lighted, enjoying the slow food
experience of a five-course meal.
In addition to sustainably-raised meats and vegetables from J.L. Hawkins Family Farm, you'll find:
Locally hand-crafted beers from Mad Anthony Brewing Company, Fort Wayne IN
Organic Vegetables from Country Garden and Farm Market, Roanoke IN
Artisan-crafted local yeast breads from Broken Bread Bakery, N. Manchester IN
Locally-produced honey and maple syrup from Dan Winger and family, N. Manchester IN
Blueberries from Myron Metzger and family, N. Manchester IN
...and more!
